I visited for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. There is easy parking in the plaza, and the location of Canal street is very easy to get to. The office is clean and well-maintained, feels very soothing and welcoming.
Dianne was lovely - she very quickly figured out what I wanted worked on and did a wonderful job of fixing my body. I have been to quite a few massage places but this was really a nice experience. The table and sheets were warmed and very soft, and the massage was great for my chronic muscle issues.
Lovely experience - I've already booked another appointment in a few weeks!
Not the best place for a prenatal massage. I was super excited to use their "special pregnancy bolster" that I asked about when making the appointment. Turns out, it's a table with a hole in it, which, I now know, is pretty uncomfortable. The masseuse was fine, I'd tell you her name, but she never actually introduced herself (or thanked me for her tip, for that matter). I let the owner know I wasn't particularly satisfied and she just sort of awkwardly stared at me and told me she "just got out of a session". I don't know what that means, and, I don't care. My lower back hurts more than when I walked in. Thumbs down.
We came to Salem for our honeymoon and I booked a couples massage a few weeks before our trip. The air bnb manager had suggested this place. The booking was very easy and friendly. I explained that I am also a massage therapist and that my standards are pretty high for massage and that we would both need therapeutic bodywork, more so then to just relax. Apparently I was paired with EXACTLY who I needed for this session! Kim Wellman gave me the best massage I have ever had...like ever. In my life. And I get a lot of them! She was so knowledgeable and thorough. I actually learned a lot just by being worked on by her. She fixed a lot of my pain issues and gave me good suggestions for self care. She even spent an extra 10 mins working on my husband's ear problem even though he wasnt her client! You can tell she loves what she does and, she is damn good at it. If you are looking for an extremely skilled massage therapist you need to book with Kim immediately. My only sadness is that she didn't agree to move to Maryland so we could trade massages every week.... thanks again Body and Soul and thank you Kim!
Loved this place, and will certainly be back! Both Lisa and Kasey are awesome, professional and know exactly where to release the knots! Great body work, the only con to the experience was the up-selling to long term package right after. It didn't bother me enough to not go back, but would have been great to walk out blissful, without needing to pay attention those details.
Dianne is an amazing practitioner. She is incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and gifted in her Reiki and massage skills! I came to her very stressed out and physically drained. As a Reiki practitioner myself, I can say Dianne is extremely skilled and attuned to Healing. Her intuitive gifts are beneficial in both Reiki and massage sessions. I highly recommend her!!!
I came here the other day for a prenatal massage. One of the huge reasons for coming was their speciality pregnancy table. The table has a mesh cut out so us pregnant chicks can lay on our stomachs no matter what month/trimester we are in. So much better than hugging a dumb body pillow & being propped up on your side.
My massage therapist was Ann. So warm & friendly especially at 8:45am on a dreary day. The room was toasty warm ( perfection). Then Ann started in on her magic. I very rarely if ever start to doze off during massages. This time I was in drooling la la land. The pressure was perfect & Ann focused on exactly the areas I asked her to.
My only complaint in that I had to leave at the end of my massage. I could have moved in & never left. Body & Souls new location is so much better than their last. Ample parking, no hunting for quarters for meters. Very tranquil & quiet ( no Washington street traffic noise). All & all an A+ massage studio.
Mary gave me a deep tissue massage to help work out the knots and tension in my back. I thought she seemed very skilled and used just the right amount of pressure get the job done but not have me in a lot of pain. She checked in with me a couple times during the massage to make sure she was giving the correct pressure and addressing the right spots that have been giving me problems.
Otherwise the facility is nice and clean. I think I will be returning for another massage soon.
To note there is no parking except for street but there was plenty on the street behind the building and in the lot by the YMCA.
I have received a few massages from Ann, the owner, and she is very professional. She really knows how to give an excellent massage and having had many massages from other therapists, I can't say the same for folks at other spas/establishments. I was recently in to see her after a bad fall, and she had to do some major work on a couple areas (hip/back) where two months after my fall, I still had a lot of swelling and some pain. It really helped. She also worked on the other areas not related to my injury, but she found some spots that hurt--I guess I was way overdue for a massage. It is a reminder to me that I need to do this more often, and Body & Soul (and Ann) is the right place. I would recommend Ann to anyone.
